Vantage is Aston Martin’s purest expression of the front-engined, rear-wheel-drive sports car. A hand-assembled 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 delivers 656 hp and 590 lb-ft to the rear axle through an eight-speed automatic transaxle, carrying the car to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and on to 202 mph. Wider tracks, a stiffer bonded aluminium structure and a 50:50 weight distribution give it the composure to match the output.
Power, Placed in the Driver's Hands
Technology that intensifies the drive rather than intervening in it
Every system on Vantage exists to sharpen the connection between driver and road. A six-dimensional inertial measurement unit informs Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Control, which coordinates the powertrain, brakes and electronic rear differential — a unit capable of moving from open to fully locked in 135 milliseconds. Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers widen the operating bandwidth by 500 percent over the previous car, while Adjustable Traction Control offers eight driver-selectable slip settings. The steering keeps a constant 12.8:1 ratio and 2.27 turns lock-to-lock, so the response never changes underneath you.
Design
The proportions are unmistakably Vantage: long bonnet, cab-rearward stance and a body drawn 30 mm wider than its predecessor to cover the broadened tracks. A grille aperture 38 percent larger than before feeds 29 percent more mass airflow to the V8, framed by all-new Matrix LED headlamps with a fresh daytime running light signature.
Detailing rewards a closer look. The Aston Martin side strake returns with recontoured vents, frameless mirrors and pop-out door handles keep the flanks clean, and a widened rear bumper with side vents concludes in quad exhaust tailpipes. Twenty-one-inch forged alloy wheels are offered in three designs, with 21 exterior colours and a choice of pinstripe and lipstick liveries.
Interior
The cabin is built around the driver. Clean, unbroken lines run between slender air vents to a 10.25-inch Pure Black touchscreen with multi-finger gesture control, supported by a full complement of physical switches for the functions that matter with gloves on or at speed. Navigation includes 3D mapping, satellite view and what3words, with wireless Apple CarPlay and embedded 4G connectivity through an Aston Martin-provided e-SIM.
Materials are traditional in the best sense. Hand-stitched Bridge of Weir leather is used throughout, wrapped over sports seats shaped for support under sustained cornering loads. A 390W, 11-speaker audio system is standard; a double-amplified 1,170W Bowers & Wilkins system with 15 speakers, Aluminium Double Dome tweeters and Continuum midrange drivers is optional.
Performance
A bonded aluminium structure with additional underbody stiffening underpins the car, with rear-end stiffness raised 29 percent under cornering load and mass split evenly front to rear. Suspension is double wishbone at the front and multi-link at the rear, with Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers and an electronic rear differential working alongside Integrated Traction Control and Integrated Brake Slip Control to place the torque precisely.
Braking comes from 400 mm front and 360 mm rear cast-iron discs with drilled faces; optional carbon ceramics are rated to 800 degrees C and remove 27 kg of unsprung mass. Bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tyres — 275/35 R21 front, 325/30 R21 rear — were developed specifically for the car. The result is a chassis that stays consistent and legible as the pace rises.
